If you have previously created projects in Webstyle 3, please select to import them from within Webstyle 4. Start the program and click on the top left corner to cause the system menu to be displayed. Next select the option to import webstyle 3 projects.

** for those that have inserted elements from webstyle 3 into FrontPage or Dreamweaver using the Webstyle Frontpage/Dreamweaver extension

Having imported projects into Webstyle 4 you should then open your web pages within Dreamweaver/ FrontPage. Select to remove an element inserted from webstyle 3. and select to insert a new element from webstyle 4 causing webstyle 4 to open. Navigate to the project folder in which the webstyle 3 projects was imported and select the element you wish to insert.

This will then allow you to edit the element at a future date using webstyle 4.

Webstyle 3 and 4 can run simultaneously on the same machine

    Hello, first post here!

Am I right in my understanding that, because my navbar on my website was created in Webstyle 3, I will still be able to use it by following the steps you have just outlined? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

Sorry to be thick, but I'm a bit new to all this, and I really like my navbar and don't want to have to change it!

I also have the urge to upgrade to Webstyle 4 - because I like to have the latest available programs!

    Thanks

    Did I miss something?

    Cheers!

Oops - I'm about to answer my own question. I've just discovered that the version of WS4 I downloaded was dated 09 October which doesn't have this feature. I let Webstyle update itself using it's own "Update Webstyle" button which I thought would have fetched the latest build... it doesn't!

I decided to then install WS4 from the CD an surprise, surprise, it was a newer version dated 22 Oct which did allow imporing from WS3 http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Anyone else in the same situation should consider installing from the CD. Confusing but I got there in the end!

I had the same problem. Just confirmation that re-installing from the CD does update the software to include the menu option to import Webstyle 3 projects.

I am in the same situation. I had 3.1 and upgraded to 4.0. I recently got a new pc so not when I opend my navbar I created in 3.1 it wont open. I origianally inserted it into FrontPage using the FP addin. I did go through and import the template to 4.0 but now I would have to redo the button names and links. That is not an option because I have way too many to do this. Is there any other option to so I can just doubel click the navbar in FP and webstyles 4 will open it?

Xara needs to get its act together with backwoods compatibility. If you bought Webstyle 4 you would think it could open a Webstyle 3.1 navbar. Get to work Xara!

    Hi,

If you manually copy your project folder from ws3 to ws4's wstemplates folder your problem should be solved.
