Animation in Xara

I think that Xara has the potential to be a very powerful animation tool, the drawing tools are certainly much easier to use than Flash. However as animation software it is quite limited at the moment- not being able to use layers in an animation is especially limiting. It is great that Xara can export to SWF but this still means I have to use Flash for animation (bah!). Have other users found good techniques or plugins to help make animations?

Or, dare I ask, are there any plans to improve the animation functionality? What about another app: "Xara Animator"?
