    Default PDF Export Question

A couple of quick questions for the group. I just got a new system and purchased the Designer Pro 6 upgrade.

I'm going through the process of installing all my apps and just installed Designer Pro 6.

I noticed that there is no PDF export in the export list. Should it have come with Designer Pro 6?

I'm going to install Acrobat Pro. Do you need Acrobat installed to get the option to export to PDF in Designer Pro 6?

Then last question. I'm curious what others in the group might be using as an alternative to Acrobat?

    Thanks a bunch!

Thanks, I think I'll look into it.

I have Acrobat Pro as well. Although this is the first time installing a Xara app on Windows 7.

I noticed that the PDF export option in my new install of Designer Pro 6 isn't an option at all. It simply isn't there.

I haven't installed Acrobat yet, and wonder if it should be an export option in Designer Pro 6 whether Acrobat is installed or not.

I don't have win7 to check - but I think you just need to run XDP6 as admin once to let some things register - and one of these is the PDF export
    glad to help

I am using Windows 7 and Designer Pro 6.

As you can see by the attached pic, export as pdf is there.
I'm not an expert like many of the member on this forum but I would not have thought that the export as pdf would depend upon whether you had a pdf reader on your system or not.

Also, an alternative to Acrobat is Foxit Reader. In my opinion, in some ways, it's better than Acrobat.

If Handrawn is correct, then I was already set as Administrator before XDP6 was installed.

Absolutely not ---- Has no bearing on that option at all ....

If Handrawn's suggestion doesn't work you will need to re-install I'm afraid to make sure the filter installs on your machine.

Thank you all for your replies.

    Handrawns suggestion did work.

I had to run it as an Administrator. Don't know why, but it worked.

Now I need to trouble shoot why my Acrobat Pro isn't working properly.

    Thanks again!

Check Adobe's site for windows 7 fix for Acro, you may have to run your machine with limited display colours as older versions are not compatible which is no big deal.

In win 7, just right click on the xara.exe icon and select run as admin. no need to reinstall or anything like that and doing it once fixed it for me.
