I was trying to create a check pattern in DP6 by the following method:

Import an image - not too big
create a very thin rectangle over the image
select all
Intersect
Stretch the result to a square - shows line pattern
duplicate
rotate 90 degrees
change transparency to 50%

Shows a square check pattern on the screen

Export as JPG - no image in export dialogue - but exports the original image
create bitmap copy - just a white box

I Tried grouping the two images and did get an image in the export dialogue but again the exported image was the original - weird?

Sorry Steve saw after that you posted the exported image...

Some more experimenting shows that the file is being exported but the preview icon is the original image - see attached import image.

It is odd Christine.
I see you have some kind of Windows add-on which places a drive bar in the browse window there. Is this a new utility you're using?
