Does the new version use the same activation scheme as the old?

In particular I'm curious if it still imposes the limit on the number of unique computers you can install it on before you need to request more activations from Xara.

I assume the answer is yes, but I haven't seen any mention of it, so I wasn't sure if they backed out of that scheme or not (or increased the activation limit?)

I don't know. But it is probably safe to assume that the limitation is still in effect.

yes, but it does not only have the reactivation limit, it is now bound to hardware too ... So if you change hardware on your pc you might have to reactivate and loose on of your free reactivations. They say after 3 activates you have to pay again. Welcome to the Adobe World. And if the CD version will insist on activating too now, you are screwed like Adobe users when they decide to remove activation servers for a specific version

I think the hardware limitation was there previously as well. You could reinstall on the same machine as many times as you wanted but need to use another activation on a different PC, so I assume it would have some hardware signature to tell it what PC it was on.

As I recall, contacting support could get you more activations if needed (assuming you didn't do it too often) without needing to purchase another copy. Presumably that's still possible as well.

Copy protection is just a way of life now. I didn't mean to start any ill will by asking.

Yes V6 is the same as V5 in this respect. There's a limit of 3 machines, but if you need more you can contact support and ask for an increase.
