Well yes that is technically true but the user experience should be front of mind for Xara, this is not a good user experience.

Hard to imagine why we can't download an ISO of the CD.

The why is simple ! The reason is that the XARA CD is copy-protected and can't be copied or converted to an ISO image.

No, it's even more simple than this.
The extra content on the CD is only available to purchasers of a license.
Making this available as a downloadable resource will inevitably lead to the download URL accidentally (or intentionally) becoming available to those without licensed and registered copies.

The 'Ring Protech' CD copy protection introduced with the CD release of Xara Xtreme 4 was dropped.
