    Default Non-vectorial works and Xara

    Hi,

I purchased Xara Xtreme 5 after 1 month trying it, and I am loving it. But, I am feeling a lack of some non-vectorial tools I had on Photoshop. Do you recommend some good non-vectorial edition software, or is there a way to do all in Xara?

    Thanks!

That very much depends on what you want to do?

Some common raster editor features may never be part of Xara Xtreme, but that doesn't mean that it can't be done.

Give us a clue, what do you want to do?

    Hi sledger,

So, I am trying, for example, to erase parts of an image/layer, in the same easy way I did on Photoshop. Is there some way do to that? This is annoying me...hehehe

No - Xara Xtreme does things differently because it's not Photoshop

You can 'remove' part of an image.

Can you show us what you are attempting to do?

    I understood...rsrs

So, I would like to know if is there some "erase" button/feature. Supposing I put a layer behind another, and want to "crop" all that is appearing "accidentaly" from this background layer. I want this layer be "closed" within the layer immediately over. How to "crop" the excedent parts of the image?

    I see.
Well first there is no 'erase' in Xara Xtreme, but there is 'intersect', 'subtract' and 'slice'

Also, the Layer and Object gallery in Xara Xtreme is not like Photoshop's image layers.

Vectors can have many object layers on the one page layer.
If you want to 'crop' one shape to the shape above it you can do this sort of in reverse using the clipview.

Remember, you are working with a vector illustration application here always.

    Using Clipview:

    Great!

This solves my issue! Thank you very much, sledger. This is so much easier than in Photoshop.

A while back, I spent a lot of time making a pile of YouTube videos on my channel demonstrating how to do almost everything that's commonly done in Photoshop but in Xara, much more easily. The videos aren't advertised on TG much, but are one of the better resources available for people in your situation. Hope they help.

    Hi Xhris.

I have not seen these videos before.

I've only looked at the Stretchy Button video at the moment but I will of course look at the others also.

So, all I would like to say is BRILLIANT work.

    Thanks very much indeed.
