    Open question: although I can open a DWG file in Illustrator, is there a 3D app that can open it as spline info, and is it true 3D information?

    TIA,

    Rhino handles all DWG stuff, assuming you mean the AutoDesk format. If you mean the DrawingBoard format, I can convert it for you.

    However, if you'll use Rhino you **might** run into trouble, because the AutoCAD apps lack precision - rendering joint objects or subtracted objects might show irregular gaps.

    No, don't say it's a problem of Rhino. Rhino is 10 times more precise compared to AutoCAD & co. I ran several tests last year because I had to convert files from DWG to 3DM. On the other hand: the 2D AutoCAD drawings are even worse ;-}

    Just my 2 cents about another 'industry standard'.
