I was beating myself up looking for a way to apply multi-colored fills to the outline of text and finally came up with this idea.

    1) Create the text with no outline
    2) Apply a 2pix outer countour
    3) Change the number of steps in the contour to one
    4) Hit "Tab" until the contour is selected and then hit the fill tool

Sorry if this is basic to y'all, but I thought it might help someone else.

    Hi joroho,
There is not very much that is basic to me in Xara yet, thanks for the tip!

    Joroho,

thanks for the great idea. This is even simpler than my approach - I've cloned the text, converted the lines to shape and added a gradient fill...

Your solution is much more elaborate! In addition you can edit the text and will keep your outline effect!

    Thanks,

    jens
