James where is the crawler.js file located?

The page in the link from your first post does not mention that you must use another placeholder named <head> that references the crawler.js file.

    Code:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="crawler.js">
The code requires the crawler.js file to be in the same folder as the index.htm file.

    Hey,

I've put another placeholder at the top of my page, put that code which you've given me into the 'replace with html' box, and now the pictures have disapeared. Tried renaming the placeholder box as <head> and that obviously just messed it the page up. The crawler zip file from this forum is in my index_htm_files and extracted the crawler into it.

Any ideas where im going wrong?

P.S - Apologises if I'm making myself out to be a proper dope but gota learn either from someone or somewhere, & lecturer isn't exactly very good on this program. Im already a little better or just as good.

    Thanks for your help
    James

James did you download the crawler.js file from the DynamicDrive link in Sledger's post that started this thread?

You must put that javascript file in the same location as your web page using the crawler code.

    Soquili,

I just cant get it to f'ing work . Im definately going wrong somewhere but im not sure where. Without sounding cheeky, do you know of any screencasts which show step by step how to do this? Or would you record one for me? honestly I've been at this for 5 hours now...getting rather annoyed with myself with the fact that I cant do it.

    Neodeist,

Ye I've used that site before and the orignal source website...I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, its why a screencast would prob be the easiest way for me to see where I'm going wrong. My uni lecturer aint sure whats going on either...so sort of scratching my head.

    Hi James,

Thanks for patiently waiting for the video.

If your images are not displaying once you have all the code entered, a possible cause is a typographical error when entering the paths to the images.

I recommend getting one of the many free code editors available that support syntax highlighting. Notepad++ and Notepad2 are two that I very often.

The two attached images show how Notepad2 was very helpful in identifying my typo that cause the images to not display while I was preparing for the video. The first image shows how the text should be for the paths to the images. The second shows how my typo was displayed in Notepad2.

NOTE: I noticed I mention 'the web page' a few times without making it clear I am referring to the Image Crawler demo web page and it's sample code.
