Red face import xara designs into coreldraw

    hi guys,
how can i export my xara t shirt designs so that they can be imported into coreldraw, converted to outlines and mirrored so that the vinyl cutter can cut them?

i have been using xara as my main graphics tool for years, and i enjoy it. however, the person who's cutter i use only knows coreldraw as that is what is preferred with the Roland gx-24 vinyl cutters. i dont want to have to learn coreldraw.

i have loaded my designs as gifs, jpegs and bmps into corel, but even after using the 'trace' feature on corel, all the lines are not perfect like they are in xara. the cutter cuts the lines in a jagged way, and the curves are not smooth.

somebody also advised me to save my xara designs as .cmx or .svg. i did that and tried importing into corel and i got an 'I/O Error', so that didnt work.

the only way i can get the straight cut lines is if i load my fonts into corel, and re-create my design in corel, which i just dont have the time for. im sure im missing something, all help is appreciated.

Hey herbiehysteria, I think if you export your .xar file to CMX, you can oben it too in Corel Draw, but your xar dokuments must be in solid colors and no effects with Xtreme tools such transparency, fill effects or clipView and shadows. So only shapes in solid colors, then oben or import it in Corel Draw and save it as cdr file. I tried it and it works fine. Regards BP

Would it be a good idea to attach one of your files here for us to try? We might see something in your file that you missed or aren't aware of.

Have you any effects in your xar file or your design, like transparency, shadows or fill effects and clipview?. If yes then you get the error, but if you export it as only shapes with flat fill it well works.
Also select all objects. then at first convert all objects to shapes, with no transparency, shadows and fill effects like eliptical fill only flat fill say like eg red and yellow or black and white then export it normal. try to do this and in Corel draw you can recoler it like you want. Sorry Panther, my post was meant for Herbie(?). I thought that maybe something in his .xar file(s) was/were causing him the problem; something he didn't catch or something he didn't know could cause the issues.

I think you might be right that object properties is the the issue, but if the file uses fonts, I imagine that could be a problem too. And maybe it's something that no one has considered yet.

It was good of you to help though; I think your efforts will be useful anyway.
