    Default Brush color

How do I change a brush color. Went to brush strokes and used the chain stroke. Tried changing the fill and line color, nothing happens. I know this is simple, but it's got me.

    Hello David,

I'm sorry your post had been waiting for approval in the Xara Brushes forum. Questions should be posted to the Xtreme and Xtreme Pro forum rather than the Xara Brushes forum.

The Xara Brushes forum is strictly for sharing brushes create with Xtreme.

You can only change the colour of a drawn brush stroke, not the brush itself. By this I mean once you have drawn a stroke using a brush you can assign a colour to that stroke. Any newly drawn stoke will revert to the default colour for the brush.

just to add to what Bill has said:

if you want you can recreate the brush in another color - this involves copying out the brush shape, recoloring it, and then making a new brush with the same settings as the original one

a bit fiddly - but it may be worth it if you really do need the actual color upfront - you would need to repeat this operation for every color you needed to use this way......

As a newbie I was about to ask the same question. When I did figure it out I realised how simple it was to create a new brush brush with different colours. I think some of the problem was expecting Xara to work in the same way as other software.
