Default FLV Movie looks its at a lower resolution

    Hello,

I am working with an .flv movie and its .swf component.

When I preview the .swf by double clicking it in Windows Exporer, the file looks great.

When I set an .swf placeholder in Zara and preview it in Xara (or export it and preview the website in IE 8) the video looks like it has been overly compressed.

I thought Xara only pointed to .swf files?

This looks like Xara is modifying the file in some way.

    Thanks for your help.

Xara does not (re) process embedded .flv or any other media files.
The player you use for the browser to display relies on the (swf) player your script is calling which in turn uses the currently install Adobe Flash Player on your system.
Double-clicking the .flv file in Windows Explorer may be loading the video into a different (Windows associated application) program. For example on my system I use FLV Player to view flash video (.flv) from an explorer folder, yet a browser embedded .flv can use JW Player or other Flash player (often simply named player.swf)

    Thanks for your reply.

So my web browser might not be using the Adobe Flash player I use in Windows explorer?.

Is there a way to make internet explorer use the same as Windows explorer?

I am sure there is, could you tell me how to do it if you know?

My flash playback has been a bit strange since moving to IE8.

    Thanks
