Export JPEG issue - file too big?

I'm working on a class assignment and I'm having trouble exporting it so that the file dimension and total file size aren't huge. The dimensions of the graphic are 564 x 324. So far I've tried 96 DPI (1415 x 1146), 75 DPI (1106 x 896), and 50 DPI (737 x 597). The first two are way too big dimension wise, and I noticed the third one results in loss of quality. Are there any other sizes I could use that aren't huge? I've attached the associated .xar file. This is driving me crazy. @_@ Any help would be greatly appreciated. ^_^ Am I missing a setting or something?

Raptor why not create a bitmap copy (Ctrl+Shift+C)?

Okay, now I'm a bit confused. I tried creating the bitmap copy and it didn't seem to do anything? I also tried to save the files as different extensions. Didn't work either. You can see that it seems to have saved what looks like a whole page?

Not sure where you're getting confused, but all I did was to place a 564x324 transparent shape at the back and use clipview to (clip) the overall image to those dimensions.
I then exported to JPG at 90% IQ 96dpi.

I think part of your problem is that you are exporting the "drawing" or "page" (see pic 1). You should select all the objects and then export the "selection" (see pic 2).

However, there is a few pixels difference between your desired output size and the actual size of the graphic. This can be sorted by using sledger's suggestion, for instance.

By the way, there is no need to make your page size the same size as your graphic. Just create your graphic on any page size, group it or select it all and export it as a selection.

A more important question that has not been addressed is why are you saving the image as JPEG? And how is the image going to be used?

Flat graphics like this are best saved as PNG or TIFF.

In my experience, JPEG, unless you crank the compression down to nothing, do a very sloppy job on large areas of flat color.

I exported your image as a JPEG and 256 color PNG. My file size for JPEG was 28K and for 8-bit PNG 16K.

The attached image shows both bitmaps at 400%. The JPEG is full of artifacts, the PNG is ver clean.
