One of the most important differences for me is the Xtreme has multiple processor support.

This means that your performance in Xtreme will dramatically improve over web designer. I had web designer first, and noticed it was really slow on processing a 20 page site. When I learned that web designer did not have multiple processor/ multi-core support, I upgraded to Xtreme, and it was the best decision I ever made.
