Default Xtreme Pro: possible to make page size less than 48x48 pixels?

    Hi all,

I'm new to this forum, but I've been using this marvellous application since it was CorelXara

I encountered a rather strange problem: I have some graphics designed in weird format (960x22 pixels), for web use. Due to specific reasons, I came accross the need to get that same graphics to animated GIF: however, it seems there is a minimal page size limit, which won't allow any (width or height) dimension to go below 48px.

Is there any way to get around this, otherwise I get animated GIF with blank space, which sucks. Not sure if XaReg could help with this?

    Any help/feedback is highly appreciated.

    Thanks a lot!

    Luka

What if you do a Flash animation? Scale the image up to a page size that is supported. Then you can scale it down to whatever size you want when you place it on your website.

    That work?

Very handsome website you have, by the way. Excellent design work.

Thank you for your reply. That could be a solution and I could enlarge my total dimensions by 2.5 factor or something and then scale down Flash on the site (display).

However, that is site that strictly utilizes HTML and images only (it is some kind of store) and no Flash is allowed there (not my site ). So, still looking for option, if anyone knows.

As far as my site is concerned, thank you for your candid comments. Site really needs a major update, though, with many new works and other things I have designed (along with logo designs). Hopefully I will get a chance in the near future

I may be misunderstanding here however...

there is nothing to stop you creating an animated gif in xtreme that is less than 48pixels - its only the page size that is limited

    Hi Luka,

    Welcome to Talkgraphics.

If you still have an older version of Xtreme (version 4 or older) you can export a gif of your desired size without need to make the page less than 48 pixels.

Steve there is a bug in Xtreme and Xtreme Pro 5.1 that does not allow exporting an animated gif that is smaller than the page size.

Steve please post your .xar file. I have spent numerous hours working with Xtreme 5.1 and Xtreme Pro 5.1 trying to get around the bug.

Bill - I did not keep the original - so here's one I remade just for you

It occurs to me - the machine I am on here only has the DL version of XXP5 - would that make a difference?

Thanks Steve. I'll check out your file on my system.

I don't think the DL version would be different with respect to gif animations.

OK, now I remember more details.

If you are trying to create a wide and short animation for a banner, the bug reveals itself.

Say you create an animation using a 200 pixel by 28 pixel shape. This will export without the bug.

However, if you use a 300 pixel or higher width at the 28 pixels height, the bug appears and the animation is the page size.

More testing could narrow down the exact width at which the bug appears but hopefully the Xara developers are working on a fix without more details. I've pulled out too much hair already.
