I just recently got ArtRage 2.5, and upgraded to Studio Pro 3 last night. I haven't had much time to play with it, but so far, so good. I like the pencils and the smoothing pen, and it's nice to be able to use selections.
I was just thinking... with ArtRage's simplicity and ease of use, it's sort of like the digital painting equivalent of Xtreme (or Xtreme is the vector equivalent to ArtRage).
I downloaded ArtRage back when it was free but never got the hang of it or understood how to use it, so I uninstalled it. Is it like Painter? Could they be compared?
ArtWeaver I think is closer to Painter than ArtRage.
The free ArtRage 2.5 Starter Edition is great for kids by the way.
I have art rage 2.5 and I am planning on upgrading to 3 but I'm still trying to decide if I need the extra features of the pro version or not. I'm leaning towards just the studio version, as this will be mostly used just for fun.

Have bought the studioPro version and love it
Toying around all day, think it is a great addition to Xtreme
The sticker-brush settings are the best ever,
even created sticker-brushes from xar brushes
Try it out and you'll see

It also now uses PS type filters, I find the settings on the pencil tool different to 2.5 and have to admit that I actually prefer 2.5 for that as I found that it was very close to the real thing.
That water colour brush is amazing.
