    Default Flare

I am looking for an effect that I know was tutored here in the past.
I've tried to do searches but don't really know what the effect is called.
It is simular to this effect but more extreme and flowing with different shades of the same color.
    Any help would be appreciated.

There's a nice lens flare by Gary Boutin (Gare) at the XaraXone

Something I borrowed and use here:

Not sure if you want a flare or the line that is wrapped around the globe.

Here's my flare method. Make the ellipse about twice the size of the desired flare.

Yes, there was a thread earlier this year asking how to make a particular style of 'sky' with many gradient and feathered lines running through it. BigFrank came up with a great technique for recreating it. It is similar to what you are wanting.

I did a search for BigFrank but only got threads that mentioned his name. I can't find the thread I'm thinking of...sorry.

If I were doing what you need, I would make lines but larger than I need. I would convert to shapes. I would then use graident, feathering and transparency to get an effect I like.

I would try creating a line with a profile.

Make the line a lighter version of the background color.

Apply 95% Mix transparency to both lines.

    Create a blend.

The line blend will get lighter as you increase the blend steps.

You can also create a line, add a profile, and add a small amount of feathering.

Your last picture looks a bit like some art geminiguy created. I have the picture in my computer and I will post it without his permission, but if it is what your looking for just make a search. This is called resized magic and he (geminiguy) also posted the xara file for it.
