Hi Kelly,
I have moved your post to a new thread.
Egg uses Techsmiths 'Jing' (which is free) or Camtasia Studio to produce his screen video tutorials. Recently he's been uploading them to YouTube and them embedding them in his posts here via the forums BBCODE tags.
I mostly use FASTSTONE Capture for screen video capture, then I upload them to my DropBox account and embed them here using the BBCODE tags for WMV (Windows Media Video)
Hi again, Is there a difference between free and pro Jing. I'm asking cause my snapshot works great but the video isn't so great. Lots of lag time. Maybe it's my computer but I just was curious if it wasn't and pro was the better software. I'm trying the Faststone and will reply how video works. Was also wondering why no one has done a xara lynda.com essentials and beyond the basics tutorials. Does adobe have an special agreement with lynda.com. I have every adobe tutorial ever but no xara. Any how I'm looking to start to learn xara. Mostly associated with interests in web development including some picture, graphic, and flash work, etc
thanks
kel
The free version of Jing limits you to 5 minutes.
There are many video tutorials created by Xara themselves.

Also you will find a great deal of user tutorials on these forums and at YouTube.
Hi Kelly,
I'm not familiar with lynda.com so have not idea if they have any arrangement with Adobe.
You may like to view some of the tutorials that come with the Xtreme CD. They are available online at http://www.xara.com/us/products/xtre...ials-demos/cd/
There are also over 10 years of monthly tutorials at http://xaraxone.com
Egg Bramhill has create many video tutorials you can find links to them at http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthread.php?t=21893

I was wondering about quality
5min is fine
I've tried fast stone, jing, and camstasia.
Jing is the easiest but with not so great video-which is what my quieston concerned. camstasia wa far too compllicated and you ha=ve to convert to avi or usable vido files. but ledger recommended fastsotne and its easy vdieo is ok but I'll have to by microphone cause mine sucks.
thanks to all who helped.

Quality is the same (high).
See the first video in the first post here:

But yes, you will need to ensure that your PC meets the manufacturers recommended specifications.
Note: I did not recommend FASTSTONE, I said I use it
Hi Kelly,
you might want to try this free screen recorder at

I personally avoid any 'free' software from NCH as it installs heaps of unwanted garbage.
Incidentally, there's a free online screen recorder 'Screentoaster' which works very well and can even be embedded into a TalkGraphics post.
Hi Kelly - you might want to take a look at Cam Studio (not to be confused with Camtasia). It is free. I have watched many You Tube videos that have been created with it. JimmyR makes some interesting funny and nerdy videos with it. Here is one he made with it that explains what Cam Studio is, how to get it, and how to configure it.

Jimmy R's videos always have good quality video and audio. His website is an interesting excursion too.
