I'm currently dissecting his XAR file: what a devilishly brilliant solution

I hope you can do it, many times I'm not able even with my own files, above all now that Xara doesn't show when you applied a clipview, I really prefer the old version that showed an icon to let you know about it.
If anything is not clear just let me know.
    Best regards

Yes, I agree - I too preferred it with the icon.

Here is what I came up with using your chrome method. I really like it, although it is very processor-intensive. I'm not happy with the result, but I really have run out of time to play so I'll try to come back to it another time.

    David,
I really like your result, from my point of view that's chrome, I'm sure that without a pluggin it impossible to achieve that.
About processor, I ussually convert the result to a bitmap to spead up my computer.
    Best regards

That's what Gary was saying about the human perspective. Our eyes see a composition of lines and colours and blends and lighting and they look in their database of "what does that combination of elements and effects look like" and the answer comes up "chrome"

I love the effect and I want to congratulate you on discovering it !

I knew it had to be done with the equivalent of a reflection or environment map, but I couldn't fathom the effect I was looking for. You did!
