    Default Metallic colors?

I've seen some really nice "Metallic"effects in many of the drawings here and would really like to know how to get a good gold and/or silver metallic color without making the image 3D. Attached is a copy of my image (and many, many thanks to the Xara gang for helping me to learn how to get my shapes to fill correctly - it was a lifesaver while creating this image!) Thanks in advance for help with the coloring. LiveBodhi.xar

Well Coleen you need to do a graduated fill or you could clone the shape and change the color of the clone amd use one of the transparency tools. Here are a couple of examples someone on these forums posted awhile back. I don't know who did them though so I can't give them credit.

Coleen I was messing around with your file and I got some interesting effects that I thought might be of interest.
    Hope you don't mind.

I don't mind at all Wizard - thanks! I like the one you have on the left, although it is just a tiny bit too much "3D" for what I had in mind. You used the bevel tool for this right? I like the effect, but I really need to practice. I'm getting better, but am definitely not an expert. lol! The bevel effect is cool, but what I'm having trouble with is getting the bevel in the amount I want using the arrows. Maybe it's my computer (yeah, I'm using a PC!) but I'd love to be able to change the amount of bevel I get by using a sliding bar or typing in a percentage rate instead of "pushing/pulling" handles. Is there a way to do that?

Thanks again for all the responses and assistance,it is as always, much appreciated.

If I understand you right, yes, with the object selected and in the bevel tool it's size. That's the slider you want.

Yes, exactly Larry, thanks! Hmmm, I was just experimenting with it, and it doesn't work quite like I expected/wanted. Is there a tutorial on using the bevel tool somewhere you could point me to? Thanks again, your help is much appreciated!

I was looking around to see what I could find for you Coleen. This one might be of interest, although not a very exciting presentation.

    here is another from xara.com

    http://site.xara.com/support/xtreme/hints/bevel.asp

I don't know if either will help you much but if they don't one of us can answer questions and give advice.
