    Default Brush error message

    Hi people,
I am in the early stages of preparing an area map and I keep running into an error message which I do not understand. The message comes when I am using or changing the brush characteristics of the orange cliff brush shown in the attachments. The brush creates the illusion of sandstone cliffs and was prepared from a text letter "l" which I then coloured orange.

The error message can be clicked off and then returns and then I can click it off again and go on with the operation. But it occurs quite frequently and is annoying the hell out of me.

My zoom setting at 200% does not seem excessive and the brush does not appear complicated.

I even thought I might have screwed something up and reinstalled XX, but it shows the same behaviour. I'd rather not wade through all the forum in case someone has instant wisdom. If needs be I'll try and document exactly the conditions with a simpler sample but again it may not be necessary.

    XX4 and winxp.
    cheers, Erik

    Egg,
I feel so stupid. I went to simplify the problem because there are a couple of underlying scanned maps in the file and I wanted to reduce the file size. I saved the simpler version, then reopened it and the problem had gone. Then I saved the original and reopened and the problem has gone there as well.

The brush behaviour is working as I would expect now.

If only all problems were as easily fixed.

.................of course it may come back.

I have seen this message on occasion - I think it is a memory allocation issue

That would fit with it disappearing when saving and reopening , as that would free memory up...?

    Ah yes,handrawn,
memory might explain it. I have been having a few problems with memory recently with Word and saving certainly helps there. I have done a lot of cleaning though and thought I'd got over it. I'll keep a watch on it.
