    Post 'INSERT' function...X5

    Hi there,

When typing over already-present text, how do I get the 'Insert' function to work?

Everything else that 'should' work, does - e.g. Crtl + B for Bold control, etc.

However - the Insert key has no effect.

I could really do with it working - as when changing prices on a massive price list, I can just overwrite, instead of carefully deleting then re-writing.

P.s. There's nothing wrong at the keyboard-end, by the way!

Thanks for your help in advance,

    Arif

I see what you mean. I always leave the Insert function turned on and do inserts and overtyping via hotkeys, so I never noticed. Xtreme v4 works the same way.

Thanks - what are Hotkeys then?

And anyone have another solution they use?

Hotkeys as in standard Windows key combinations such as Control V for Insert to include text copied to the Clipboard.

I suspect that most people swipe the text they want to replace, then type over it. I stopped toggling the Insert key on and off years ago because I felt I had more control with the hotkeys.

    that's what I do [swipe]

in fact the 'insert' key and the 'caps lock' key are both disabled in my keyboard setup software, they are both more trouble to me than they are worth through continually being hit at the wrong time...
