    Default Spirals from Inkscape

    Hi all,

I know one can make spirals with the plugin.
But you could also use inkscape (free) to make a spiral, save as svg
and import it in Xara, it works.

I tried it for I use Xara LX on a Linux machine, next to Xara Extreme pro 5 on Windows, I learned to love Xara through Linux and bought the pro version for Windows.

BTW Inkscape is a nice programm next to Xara.

    Regards,
    Jan

Hi Jan and welcome to the Xtreme Conference

The benefit of using Dmitry's free utility SPX Spiral Generator which you can download from the Xara Xone Shareware page is that 1) It's FREE, and 2) You can drag your spiral from SPX Generator and drop it onto your Xtreme page.

There are lots of Inkscape fans in this conference who agree with your fondness for that program.

Well, Inkscape also has the benefit of being FREE - but I agree with Gary that Dmitry's utility for Spirals is the way to go when spirals are all you require.

Dmity's spirals program is good for the windows xtreme version, true

Inkscape is a great compliment to xtreme - it has tools xtreme should have [IMO] like the calligraphy pen...

Inkscape spirals are good too - all depends how you want to work

[Guess I am one of those Gary is talking about ]

I use windows. Copy from Inkscape, paste into Xara as Enhanced Metafile seems to work well enough.

I've used Spiral Generator in the past but the download link doesn't work (at least for me.) It doesn't even show as a hyperlink.

The Xaraxone page for SPX-E is here:
    http://www.xaraxone.com/html/spx-e.html

The hyperlink to download the .zip file is at the bottom of the page.
Seems to be working as I just downloaded the program again to check.

    Hi

Using xtreme pro 5 amd inkscape 0.46 on XP Home SP3:

copy and paste via the clip board from inkscape to xtreme does not work on my system; it never has - can copy from xtreme to inkscape but the result is an image not a vector

inkscape EMF format imports into xtreme as outlines and flat color, but graduated fills and transparency do not seem to work, that infomation is lost

hmmm, the link on the URL I posted didn't work for me but the one you posted looked different and worked. The one that I posted said : "Click here to download SpiroJ (184K)" But thanks, I got it from the one you posted.
