    Default Colorfilled...or not?

Lower left status bar at the bottom of Xara screen shows the upper shape to be colorfilled green with black outline, but it displays with no colorfill (see attachment).

Select both shapes > Arrange > Combine Shapes > Add Shapes...green colorfill!
How does this shape fool Xara into thinking it's colorfilled but display without colorfill?

I think the upper shape came from a pdf import.

    HI

if the upper shape did come from pdf this can happen

[non-technical] explanation: xtreme is 'not-sure' whether it is a shape in the shape of a line or a polygon shape, so yes it does get 'confused' - the status bar calls it a shape, but when it comes to fill it is treated as a line even though it is closed

add shapes determines it as a shape, and the original fill is restored

    just my experience...

Very interesting. I've never seen that happen before. I was going nuts trying to get the colorfill of the upper shape to display!

    Thanks for the explanation.

pleasure - it could even be that in the original it was an unclosed filled shape [which xtreme does not do] that has been made to 'look' closed

it depends I guess on how the information in the pdf is interpreted when it is imported

It does appear to originally have been an unclosed filled shape in the application that created it.

If you use the Shape Editor Tool and select any of the vertex points you can 'break at points' then select a point and move it slightly then bring it back to join the shape again. The green fill appears on screen.

    Bill,

I could have sworn that was a closed shape. It sure looked like it was with the view quality slider full left. I guess looks can be deceiving.

Thanks for the "break at points" tip. Works great! Now I'll know what to do when I find one of these again.

Steve the outline does appear to be closed but something from the originating application was not interpreted that way when either saved to pdf or on import into Xtreme.

The break at points and then reconnecting the point probably updates the record in Xtreme making it a closed shape.
