XaReg Error Signature

Hello,

I work with physically disabled people and would like to make some changes to Xara to cater for their disabilities.

I tried to install XaReg v1.0.2.0 this morning on two computers and they both generated the same error message as per attached screen dump. I logged on both as Administrator and with DotNet 2.0 installed .

Can anybody give me any pointers as to why they will not install?

That's not a screen produced by XaReg, there's no reporting or information/license gathering/collection done by XaReg - which security software do you have installed?

There is also no installation required for XaReg. Simply unzip and run the exe file.

Please advise where you downloaded the file you are attempting to install.

Soquili, below is the procedure that was used yesterday:-

1 - XaReg was downloaded from www.xaraxone.com/html/shareware.html and was saved on to my server and subequently unzipped.
2 - On the appropriate two computers, I located on the server the resulting XaReg.exe file which was double-clicked, the XaReg Splash screen appeared quickly followed by the Microsoft problem box and the error signature box was available via clicking on the "What data does the error report contain?"
3 - Click on "Don't Send" will clear the screen.

I am aware that there is no installation required as I use XarReg on my laptop at home without any problems.

Hopefully this is the information that you require from me.

Sledger, my original screen dump was a Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 generated error box. We are currently using Norman Virus Control and Lavasoft Ad-Aware Anniversary Edition for our security software. Even exiting Ad-Aware did not allow me to run XaReg either.

Copy the file to the local PC and run from there.

The problem is caused by running XaReg from the server.

XaReg must be run from a local computer and not from a server. It cannot access the local computer's Current_User registry over a network.

The attached .zip file contains a minor update to the version currently on the Xara Xone.

As per your suggestion, I have copied over the XaReg file to the local computers and it now works like a treat.

I am now using the latest v 1.0.2.1 without any problems either.

I never had that problem before with other software running from the server.

The Current_User registry key is not accessible from a remote computer, like the server.

Other registry keys, like the Local_Computer key is accessible but that is not where programs store their settings.

XaReg is actually very simple and only provides easy access to the Current_User registry for the settings that Xara has made available in that key.
