mask button query

there is the 'lasso' button - and then there is a mask bar that you can enable which has a different button [here on the left]

as far as i can see they do the same thing ?

Never noticed that before (had to dig it out of the control bars dialog!)



They are indeed the very same. Both buttons depress when either one is selected.

I also never noticed that before. I think I prefer the Control Bars button rather than the 'lasso' button.

Especially since the lasso icon tends to mean something else in bitmap editors.

But the lasso is on the standard toolbar. I would say that most people have that bar open, so why do they need the dedicated mask control bar.
