Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.
I honestly hesitated to post something done in M$ Paint for fear of being booed or laughed off the forum. (Or worse yet, banned! But the guidelines for this challenge do say "anything goes".
Perhaps there's some truth to the old adage - "It's not the tools you have, but what you do with those tools."
Nancy, thank you for the fun challenge. Everyone did a fantastic job on their feathers!
Cheers -

Larry, thank you for the reference! I have to share as well. Perhaps they will come in handy. Just have to gather them up
Snow Star, never be afraid to share your work. People who do art appreciate all forms of it and tools to create it. That goes for photography as well.
People sometimes disagree on the purity of work and that is a topic that can be argued for years without a compromise. People who feel that way are found in almost all forums and platforms.
As example, here's a few comments that I remember from other sites:
It's not a worthwhile render because the person didn't model all the objects in the scene himself.
It's not a worthwhile render because there's too much postwork on the image.
It's not a worthwhile render because a Poser figure is in the image and it was rendered in Bryce.
It's not a worthwhile render because outside textures were used instead of being 'created'.
A Bryce forum moderator quit because he was angry that the site would not require all images accepted to the Bryce gallery to be 'pure Bryce'.
My opinion is that it is indeed the end result....especially if you are selling your work. It doesn't matter what these people think, it's what your buyers think.

Could you hold my beer while I dig out my license?

Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read. Groucho Marx.
Now we just have to find some buyers, rotfl!!!!!

Here's some feathers to use. The big one is pretty old and beat up but you can imagine what it would look like if new. The smallest feather is from a mallard duck. The others are hawk, crow and comon songbird feathers.

Part of the challenge is using the provided art work. As you would if you were commissioned. Making one of your own design is certainly a a great thing to do and I encourage, but you will fail the brief

Welcome to TG Forums skolapper,
Perhaps you would like to submit your own feather in this members 'challenge' thread?
Please, feel free.
The only thing you can possibly fail at here is understanding the purpose of the Challenges forum and this thread
