Exclamation Xtreme Pro 5.0, colors and pdf

    Hi!
I'm testing Xara Xtreme Pro 5.0, before buying it.
I have tested some files with Pantone colors. Here's what happened when I exported the images in pdf High quality 300dpi. In the first image i had lighted colors, in the second case colors are reversed!
    Why? Have I something wrong?http://www.cospell.com/imm1.jpg

Well, is that a simple rectangle with a simple gradient, or several layered things? What did you use as the "other" color in the gradient? Note that you can only use TINTS (as far as I know) of a pantone color for the other end of a gradient, because, well, pantone colors are not mixed and thus can only be made brighter by the print hardware, not darker or a different hue etc...

EDIT: Urm now that I look at it, the gradient is actually reversed in the second image... that really looks like a bug.

    Just a rectangle. Nothing else.
In my real application (the one I've to create...that is the second one) colors are PANTONE 288 PC (start) and PANTONE 283 PC (end).
But with CMYK colors the result is the same...

Because you have downloaded XPro 5 it has no Pantone Libraries or Colour Bridge and when you export you gradient colours they are converted to CMYK. I don't think you quite understand why you would use spot colours or Pantone tints. What I would suggest that you do in the Windows menu select "Simulate Printer Colour" which does give an approx of what your art work would look like in CMYK and I stress this is just an approx. The second thing that I would suggest is to study the Help Files and do a search on Colour Handling as this will give you a better understanding of how XPro handles colour. If you want more info after doing a bit of reading come back with any questions.

I used XPro 3 for a long time and I had no problem. I know what is Pantone and the "Printer Color Simulation", but the result is absolutely different from the simulation. And in the second image, as you can see, colors are reversed!
This thing has never happened with XPro3!

    I used Xtreme pro 5.1
I made a square with a linear fill of two solid pantone colors.
they export correctly on the right plates (not converted to CMYK) on PDF.

Can't replicate what you got! If you are using gradient it is better to use the advanced menu and select PDFX-1a but I did it both ways and got no reversal of the gradient even selecting the radio button under Commercial Printing.
