    Default Re: How to distort

Another question, how would one put an image inside text or have the image behind the text and cut the text out so the image is the text - sort of like laying an old style stencil over a picture and have the picture as the text - - if that makes sense? - jb

    Hi Jeb,

You can create your text and put it behind your bitmap image.

Select both the image and the text and Arrange menu > Apply Clipview.

See attached image for an example.

There is a third method, but it doesn't give you the ability to adjust your image within the text like the first two methods. You can place your text over the image and select both the text and image then combine shapes>slice.

Actually you can still adjust the image after using the Ctrl+4 (Slice) method to fill text Frances
Simply click the 'Fill tool' icon (G) and the fill handle will appear thus allowing for image manipulation inside the text.

    Hello Frances

I'm delighted to be be able to tell you that your method is just as good as the others'. All you have to do is select the Fill tool and you can move the image around inside your text just as in the other methods

Yet another method - put your text over the image and press CTRL+3 to combine them [intersect]. If you want to move the texture around, you can either use the fill tool or you can just use the shape editor [F4], select all points and move or nudge them around. I tend to use nudge a lot, as it keeps everything perfectly aligned and it's easy to shift things back again if an idea doesn't work out, so this is my preferred method. You can also nudge the fill gradient when the centre point is selected, Ijust never think to do that [maybe it hasn't always been nudgeable].
