Have you seen any of the works by the real masters? !

    It looks like Casey's stuff is pretty good too. He could just possibly be a "real master" too!

    Dennis,

    I think he was referring to folks like Steve Newport, Vladimyr, Kane Rogers and Newton Florentino as artists that can create realistic images in Xara X(1). Others like Risto or Maya or Lord who also have done some really out of this world stuff with the program. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

    No doubt that you can achieve allot in RD-Pro but there are more limitations and IMHO would take longer to achieve some of these kinds of works!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

    But then again I'm preaching to choir, right?? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

    Well looks like I'm home like I said. The lamp above took 30 minutes to create so not that hard. RD I feel now is just a great tool rather than a good design app as you soon grow out of it due to some missing features.. But hey a very good tool.

    Anyways I'm off to have a look at the Tut CD I got with Xara last year.. Isn't that bad 6 or months ago and didn't give it a go..... Bad Casey!

    "JohnR have you got a gallery of your work???" - Casey

    Ummm, Casey...

    I have not done anything that merits a gallery. I draw for myself, and for work. My work satifies my clients needs and I have yet to feel very satified with any of my work to truly finish it. I know how to use and abuse xara, can make colors work together, create any shape. But I do not feel I am an artist. The largest collection of my works you can find here in these forums. Mainly tests and attempts that are not quite there. The largest number you can find here, one evening drawings I did while trying to put x1 through her paces beta testing...

    John,

    That snake body you have done... I know I should probably run through a few tutorials at the moment but how did you achieve the body.

    I've been experimenting with the blend tool but cannot see how to get my shape to follow a path?

    Is it possible to create a shape such as a circle and then draw a curve using the pen tool, then apply the circle to the curve along it's path? I know you can do it with text as that was my first choice.

    Hi Casey Web Design,

    Here is one better than a tut;

    select: Help=>Movies=>Blending objects - Advanced

    This should help you make your very own headless snake. You can have multiple step blends too... That is how I made the body of the Nuke also.

    I will help where I can. The only stupid question is the unasked question. I taught for 10 years, so I will try to help where I can. When it is beyond my knowledge, I will beg out and leave it to the masters to answer.

    My knowledge can last maybe a good 5 or 10 minutes... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

    Hey John,

    Wasn't that worm/snake created using a brush?? If so, Casey, it's even easier than you hoped.

    I threw this together just now. It's pretty clear but if you have questions then don't hesitate to ask. I think Gary has a more in depth tutorial on worms, since he loves them so much!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

    Have fun Casey. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif I can see this brush easily being the neck of the lamp with a few more adjustments!!
