Shortcuts not working anymore

Yes, I tried the other CTRL key but the outcome is the same. If I press the CTRL+1 keys in the "customize shortcut" utility, it shows CTRL+1 and then it changes back to "none".

All the other shortcuts using CTRL (CTRL+G, CTRL+C, CTRL+V.....) are all working just fine, so it can't be the CTRL key that's causing the problem. I tries assigning CTRL+5 to an empty action and that's working fine also.

If you go into Control Panel, choose "Regional and Language Options", select the "Keyboards and Languages" tab in that dialog then click "Change keyboards..." what does the dropdown box in the "Default input language" section say?

If you click that dropdown see if it offers you any input language that looks more useful to you and if so, select it, then OK the dialog boxes, go back to Xtreme and see whether your Ctrl+1 keypress works.

Update:
I reïnstalled Xara- still the same.
I uninstalled Xara, rebooted and installed again- still the same.
Then I noticed that my templates didn't show my custom colorline anymore! arghhh!!!
Then I restored the computer back to a date that hadn't the problem yet- still the same.
But YES! I got at least my colors back in my templates!!!
I thought about a way around and I tried to assign other shortcuts. I chose SHIFT+1,2,3,4 and yes! it works.
Still I'm thinking: what can be the cause of this strange problem.

yes, I changed the settings but no change. The setting was English(USA), USA (international) and I changed it in Dutch, USA (international). I hope I translated it well.
But the first setting is the setting my computer always had. But anyway no change.

off the wall - but have you physically changed keyboards

else - registry problem, maybe?

I'm on a laptop so a psysically change of keyboard is not possible, or did I misunderstood you?
How can I find out if it is a registry problem?

just floating ideas really - a change of keyboard would be a check, but not easy with a laptop

had a quick look at the registry but could not see anything obvious ....

I wonder if you accidentally pressed the function key on your laptop. That happened to my brother's laptop a couple of times, and he couldn't type capital letters until he toggled it off.
