Default "Broken" object is invisible in any kind of bitmap conversion

    Hi again,

well, I hope this time I'm not too stupid

I have this object in the attached XAR file, which is a group comprised of two other groups - the titles etc. and a copy of them that acts as a shadow.

Whatever I try to do with this object - if it requires a bitmap, it will fail.

"Create bitmap copy" -> Empty bitmap
Live effects -> Object just disappears completely

    etc...

Is there some way to circumvent this bug, or is it not even one?

I'm not having any problems Alexander. But I notice if I zoom out that there are a lot of objects outside of the page area.

Sometimes something peculiar happens with Xara and it does not do things that it should do.

I would recommend save your file, close Xtreme, and re-open it and open the file and see if now works.

    Hi Gary,

thanks, I'll try that suggestion when I come back home. I usually launch Xara in the morning and close it in the evening, because it somehow doesn't restore the positions/sizes of the non-docked galleries correctly on the second monitor, so I just have to adjust them once in the morning.

The objects outside the page area are intentional - they're meant to cover any parts of objects that are outside the view, so that I get a more accurate preview of what's actually going to be printed

Hmmm no, still empty bitmaps with live effects or "Create bitmap copy" after a relaunch. Oh well.

Yes I see, the white text object disappears due to the high percentage of transparency applied to the white vector object - the alpha transparency is not being accurately transfered from the vector object to the raster object.

So what I did was to remove the transparencies from both white and black title objects, created a bitmap copy of each THEN added the same amount of transparency (65.5% to the black and 22% to the white) align them, group them and created a bitmap copy of the group (PNG True-color plus Alpha)

    Hey Sledger,

thanks for your experiment. Maybe I was a bit inaccurate - the problematic object is not the 'title' at the top, but the other group that has *all* the titles of the songs (the bunch of text). That's a group that consists of 2 other groups (one text, one manual shadow copy), which each consist again of 3 groups...

I know this is all maybe a bit much to ask, but on that object, I can't get any bitmap-based feature to work - it just disappears. I first need to ungroup down to the last level, then on the individual objects it works.

Hmm - then I have no idea (I think) what you mean Alexander

What do you mean by 'bitmap based feature'?

If I enable the Background layer, hide the OUTSIDE layer then select all and apply a clipview, I can create a bitmap copy or export as a bitmap, apply any bitmap effect, nothing disappears.

But I really can't be sure what you are wanting at this stage

I would like to create a 'Concentric Waves' live effect on the song titles group! So, I select that group, apply the live effect - and - the group disappears!

Here's the PNG bitmap without the effects.

    What I did:

Ungrouped all the song title text.
    Threw away the shadow copy.

Made sure the white copy was converted to shapes, ungrouped twice, grouped all once and then Ctrl+1 (add shapes)
Applied a drop-shadow (wall shadow) 0% blur and 0% transparency, positioned as required.
Created a bitmap copy - applied Concentric Waves LE.
    .
Note: I removed the space on line 03 'H-B oogie' to read 'H-Boogie' (I hope that was right?)

Sledger: Oh, many thanks for all the work. At least I can now continue with the design, and yeah, the typo correction was alright too!

It's a bit unfortunate that all of this is required though - shouldn't what I tried "just" work directly on the grouped grouped grouped group?
