Default Re: Creating a 3d Doughnut

So the challenge here, as I understand it, is to create a circle with and outer bevel, and an inner "hole of a doughnut" meaning a round interior hole with a rounded edge.
    Here is what I did:
1 Created 2 circles, one larger than the other, then subtract smaller circle to create doughnut shape.
2 Color shape to your requirement, then apply a rounded bevel, adjust as needed for the interior edge bevelment ( is that even a word?).

3 Clone that shape and change the bevel type to Flat.(or what ever kind of bevel type you want) adjust that bevel until the outer edge bevel is right.
4 Apply a circular transparency, invert the transparency, adjust until it looks right.
5 use the selector tool to select both circles, then group into 1 shape.
6 Save as XAR file and/or export in the format you require.
    7 Done.
    That's all.

Great to see so many ways to fry a donut.

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.

    Feeling hungry now!

That's brilliant guys, thanks! I didn't come in for a few days as normally forums like this take ages to get you an answer, but wow, so many replies.

That's sorted me for that example, though what i actually want to be able to do is simply put a bevel on any shape with a bit cut out of it (i used a doughnut as the simplest example.) I was actually designing a logo with some text converted to curves and modified and wanted a simple bevel on the letter A. When the text is as text it works fine, when converted to shapes it's fine, but the second i modify it in any way, the bevel stops working properly. Does anyone know why, and if there is a simple solution?

    Hello Scarrott

If I remember correctly, you should convert and modify your shape before adding the bevel. The bevel should be the last thing you add to a shape because if you then subtract/add/convert in any way, you lose the "Live Effect" that is a bevel. You should get better results now. I hope

@ Scarrott: Something you may or may not be aware of is that the bevel can be altered to produce different results by using the line gallery (see attached).
@ kinetica: That's a really yummy looking donut, there, Dave.
