Import of CMYK Bitmaps

Hello,

i don't know if there's already a thread about this issue but i have a question. Sometimes the customers pass me some cmyk bitmaps. By importing them to Xara Xtreme the cmyk value gets lost. It seems Xara Xtreme can only work with rgb bitmaps. Is that right. An example is that a customer gave me a picture with an element, which must keep the cmyk value. When i created a
CMYK PDF the CMY value of this bitmap element was completly wrong. How can i solve this problem?

Hi Frank,
What ever version of Xara you use it will treat all bitmaps in RGB. The screen colour values use RGB so when Xara started up they used the RGB values at all times which will cause you problems when import CMYK bitmap. Having said that the PDF export will always convert the given values of your work correctly and accurately. What have you got to use another programme to convert your bitmap to RGB like Gimp or some other free programme like that.
