    when building a repeating pattern is there any one technique that i should stuck to its just that I will be using a lot of patterns in my web design project

    Here is a very simple tutorial that covers the basics. And here is another.

    Simply, the pattern needs to join side to side and top and bottom.

    I like the idea of seamless tiles, they seem almost magical in what they do.
    Gary's tutorial also linked above in his post was good fun, and very easy to accomplish.
    Along the way it also imparts valuable information about fractal fills and how to adjust them.
    So it's not just a matter of learning about a basketweave texture, there are usually many other useful tips and tricks to glean.

    You are right bob,
    One of the many times it was very useful was when I drew the jaguar to make the front grid, if that kind of tool doesn't exist the work would be harder.
    Ussually is a bit difficult to get the piece that fits all directions.
