Xara Error Messages

Hi all,

I am still occuring error reports on designs and am unable to open them once saved. I have contacted Xara support on several occations about these problems but they are not getting back to me anymore!

Error messages include: Failed to handle record 1103 and 830 and 4393.

I don't have any older version than xtreme 4.0 and am running on Vista.

Is anyone able to help please?

Hi GavJay,

Have you tried ExpandXar?
If you aren't comfortable with command lines tool, there's a GUI front-end utility for expandxar created by TG member Stan Day.

I have saved the expandxar zip and have tried running it in the CMD.

I just keep getting: /expandxar' is not recongnized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. ??

Am I doing something wrong?

Hi GavJay,

I've looked up those numbers and they don't make much sense. Can you post one of the files giving these errors so that we can examine it?

Can you remember what changes you last made to the file before it became unreadable? Anything in common between the files that give you these problems?

Hi Phil and thanks for your responce.

I have attached the files that I am having problems with.

To be honest I have been creating the whole file and saving at the end and when I try to go back in to edit the file it comes up with the error messages with error numbers as stated before..

Here are the files I have recovered. I hope you haven't lost too much work.

The problems may stem from applying BumpMap LiveEffects to shadowed objects but I'm not sure about that. I might be able to tell you more tomorrow after speaking to one of my colleagues.
