    Thank you nostaw.
Nope, wrong again. Not a single brush... although I did try. Which means I didn't try hard enough! Had I known about it, I guess I could have done it that way (probably easier too!)

Anyway, a little later than planned, here's the walk-through, which I had as much fun creating as the image itself

The owner of the original image which Spinny asked to be removed after I'd pointed out the copyright concern would righty be just as concerned that you have uploaded a copy to your own photobucket account.
Your link will not appear at TG.
    Thanks

Well spotted Nostaw! Although it wasn't done with a brush, I think maybe it should have been. I knew I'd seen that technique before so I went searching, and I found a thread in this very forum from way back in 2006 on a that very subject!

Shame my memory isn't any better

OK, I've tried it with a brush, lots of combinations, and this is as near as I can get (at this late hour ). I do think that the first one I did is better. But, I'm sure that with a lot more trial and error, one could improve on this one. Maybe redo the brush.

    Maybe get some sleep...

Well, this has been a wonderful eye-opener for me, and many thanks for that!
