Read previous post. It was ended with a joke.

Separating HTML features from Xtreme is a poorly thought out idea in my opinion. It's obvious that WD is a template based quick and basic solution. Xtreme is supposed to be it's upgrade (and no doubt Xara 5 will have all WD's improved HTML features--I'm sure they were designed for it but released early as a new product given the market opportunity for a novel web authoring tool). If you separate HTML export out unnecessarily then you either limit your graphical capabilities significantly (WD), or, if WD's graphical capabilities were improved, would have no distinction between the two products (so what would be the point of WD?).

Anyway, it won't happen; Xara 5 will almost certainly be like WD with full graphical capabilities if Xara are sensible--which they are (thank god they are led well by someone with an IQ; otherwise they'd end up like Inkscape).

Xhris, it's certainly a possibility and only time will tell.

If you are right, there will be a lot of people who have bought XWD that will potentially find the next Xtreme upgrade much less appealing. If Xtreme is upgraded with web functionality greatly superior to that of XWD, but with little else, there will be a lot of unhappy Xtreme owners reluctant to pay out again to get upgraded web functionality.

With XWD in place I don't see Xtreme as a vehicle for improved web support anymore.

Anyway, we just have to wait and see.

Er, when have Xara ever made you pay for the same thing twice? This is the whole point of their upgrade process. There'll no doubt be discounts for those who've bought WD in the exact same kind of way that WD was cheaper if you own Xtreme 4's web features. I mean...surely this doesn't even need to be said; it's been like this since forever?

Anyway, it's just speculation and going nowhere. We all have opinions and can speculate, but it's a pointless exercise really. One day we'll know.

    Idle, baseless speculation at that!
