I am trying to locate a way to remove or cut a portion of an object out, similiar to a magic lasso in Gimp.
Can anyone assist me. What I am trying to do is remove heads to paste onto new backgrounds...if that makes any sense...

Welcome to Talkgraphics forums ictdog,
Xtreme uses vector shapes as cutting (intersecting) tools.
You can find information about this in the Xtreme help file as shown below.
Egg Bramhill has also produced a video tutorial showing the process.
The technique when using Xara is known as masking to intersect out the parts of the photo you want. A HD video I made on the topic is on my YT site (click on "watch in HD" and go to full screen mode to see as intended).
I guess Im not getting it, I get to the black part when I completly go around my picture. its this shift click that I guess I'm not getting with WD. I know I'm old but I'm sure I can be taught something new
Shift click means to hold down the shift key while you select the masking object and the photo beneath it. An alternative method is to use the selector tool and marquee select (drag a box around) both objects. Once both objects are selected Arrange>combine shapes>slice completes the operation

Another way for doing the head transplant operation is to select the head with the shape editor tool and when it turns black, with the black shape still selected, send it to the back of your page (Ctrl + B).
Now marquee select the whole bitmap and the black shape below (which you can't see, but it's there!) and press "Q" on the keyboard. This creates a clipview, the whole photo is still there, but you can now
treat this clipview as the new head and place it over the other head that is to be the transplantee.
A tiny bit of feathering of the clipview may help to blend the new head onto the old one.
Saludos,
Bob.
