    Default Filling an open path

Looking at XaraXone's tips - I can't get that first tip on filling an open path to work on XXpro (fully patched) 4.01....

does it still work or am I doing something wrong?

    thanks,
    Glenn

You cannot fill an empty path. It has to be a closed shape.

Select the path, select the Shape Editor Tool, select either the start or the end point, and press Enter (Return) and the path will close and you can apply a fill of your choice.

    Gary,
I got this straight from the XaraXone - did I miss something?

glenn - that method works with a line and shape that are drawn and a color fill

I don't think it works with quickshapes - I am not sure about bitmap fills

Glenn, in Xtreme 4 it works like this:

Create a rectangle filled with any colour.
    Create an open shape
Select rectangle and shape and then Arrange>>Join Shapes
    Then Arrange>>Break Shapes
Then you can (for example) shift+Drag a photo from the clipart or bitmap gallery

This is the same technique I mentioned in post 5 Xhris, except that the shape does not need to be behind for the open path area to fill.

Ok - it all appears to work as you've all mentioned and I've proved that to myself - BUT
create one yourself, and then zoom in closer on the filled open path and you will find it has closed itself. zoom back out and it appears as open again.

Weird, does it export like that? It is an unofficial 'bug' feature though.
