Xara vs Adobe Illustrator Question - Re Spirals & Swooshes

Hi Guys!!

BUT I would like to know if this can be done in an easier fashion in Xara Xtreme Pro 3? If not, I am going to have to study AI in-depthly and that is something I do not want to have to do.

I have attached my DISGUSTING attempt (.xar file) at doing this in Xara, if anyone thinks that this can be done in Xara, I will continue my struggle. I do not expect anyone to do it for me, I just want to know which programme will achieve the better results. On my attached Xara file are some of my questions.

Move one of the spirals until the ends as close to each other. Select both paths and use the shape edit tool to join them together.

As a line, you can select a line profile and adjust the line width as required.

Convert the line to a shape to get an object and you can edit the shape from there.

I made a standard group of shape, and added then as objects.

I just draw them with the freehand brush tool. I don't worry to much about having perfect spirals. I prefer them to be a bit loose. Attached example is a quick sketch of 1 simple scroll branch, duplicated and flipped about to create a couple of patterns.

Actually, Inkscape just added Spiro to their arsenal of features so, you could give that a try... (it's free anyway)
I would love to see Spiro added to Xara... the code is there for anyone to use so.... maybe a future chance?

Dmitry's Sprial generator in the Xara Xone Shareware page is free and works just as well.

True it is not integrated into Xtreme, but once you have configured your spiral, just drag and drop the spiral onto the page.
