Default Rounded corners for photos and squares/rectangles

Could someone explain to me how I should go about rounding the corners of both squares/rectangles and photos? This is probably a dumb question; but I am new to Xara, and I have yet to figure this one out.

    Thanks for any help.

Welcome rbmingie. To create rectangles with rounded corners use the rectangle tool and click on the green highlighted icon in the attachment below. You can drag the nodes to increase/decrease the amount of curvature.

Just place a curved rectangle below your photo, select both the rectangle and the photo and go Arrange/Apply Clip View

Welcome to the Xtreme Conference rgmingie

You can also double click on the corner of a rectangle with the Rectangle Tool and then drag the inside control points with the Rectangle Tool (but not the corner points--they resize the rectangle) to adjust the radius of the corners.

NOTE If the rectangle has been converted to editable shapes (Arrange menu) then you can no longer round the corners.

Gary, great tip! Thanks. How in the world do you find these things out? Just stumble upon them? (Please don't say they're in the Help file...)

I like that tip a lot, Gary. I often forget to toggle the rounded corners button and end up drawing unwanted rounded corner rectangles. This method doesn't toggle the button. It's just another way to succeed! Thanks!

I discovered another way to succeed Select your photo then slect the shape editor tool and you can add or remove nodes, pull in the sides etc. and creatively clip your photo.
