Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read. Groucho Marx.
I've attached a Xara file with a mini-tutorial on how to use the fractal fill to make a brushed metal look.
I've been playing around with the idea of having many colours and raised text.

I guess the "teach , don't do it for them" mandate really went on the wayside in this thread. Oh well, Happy New Year!
- Andy
Sorry Andy but where has anyone done something for someone here? Many members have said how they would create an effect but I don't see anyone actually creating a requested graphic.
And I wish you a Happy New Year too.

Hi Andy, Happy New Year.
As Egg points out we have shared techniques but we have not produced a specific graphic for mokusbajusz.
The old saying "a picture is worth a thousand words" applies here. It would take pages of text and many example images to explain the steps. Sharing the .xar is to allow someone to closely examine the subtleties of the fill and transparencies.
I doubt that mokusbajusz wanted an anodized Xara Xtreme 4.0 graphic.

You are right!
As far as I remember I did not ask to do the job for me, but just pointing me the way.
And exactly that happened. Thank you again!
In the meantime I read the forum rules (I know, a bit late), and being so I now apologize from the mods for linking my first attempt, instead of uploading. Unfortunately I cannot edit that post of mine anymore, so here it is:
True, a specific finished graphic wasn't created, but easily manipulated XAR files were posted with finished effects. To my thinking that isn't too far away from doing it for them.
Just my opinion...
- Andy
Very true Andy. But someone would have to put forth some effort to manipulate into their desired image. And in the process learn how to use the tools.
