    Nothing will be revealed

Table, Risto, not Tablet. (you have a wicked sense of humor)

    Welcome Graymalkin,
Tracer settings are traded in secret among the elect. As some suspect, there are tables - many of them - and, when you make your 200th post to this forum, Gary will send you the “master plan”.

    Xara Rules !!!!

What I have been looking for is a tool/plugin which can reduce a bitmap to, say, 4 tones. The trace will then pick out the main areas.

You can also have a look here: http://talkgraphics.com/groupee/foru...1&m=8831923922 and at the linked thread...

I totally agree with you Risto on everything that you stated there and I would not use Illustator to trace anything as it is far to clumsy a tool. FreeHand has the best trace tool that I have used and it is very easy to configure.

All that I was trying to get across that if you wanted to do an auto trace with Xara X1 then use PE with plugins to achieve the result that you want.

Still think the best way is to do it manually although you can achieve some great affects using auto trace.

    No Tad... me dumb... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I didn't realize doane meant "table of setting"... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif I reallly thought he meant tablet for tracing by hand. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

No I don't have a table of settings... If I had miracle table of settings, I would have posted it a long time ago. As I said in my previous post: All bitmaps are a little different and require fiddling.

I forgot to mention that there is always Brian's freeware application "XColor" for download from the XaraXone. It's a very niftly little application that enables you do modify/merge colours in a trace.

You can also limit the number of colours in a trace automatically. Egg wrote this easy to understand tutorial that explains how: http://talkgraphics.infopop.net/1/Op...8&m=3211946664
