but unfortunately it works in unpredictible way
sometimes i get my precise size at first try
    sometimes after few tries
    but sometimes never

take a look at my attached file
and try to resize the object to 32 in width only

    Yes,
It's a strange thing that happens, has something to do with the placement,
as you move the object, the values also change.
Think it has to do the calculations of this irregular object.

You can overcome this by creating a rectangle with the right dimensions eg 32x16
then group all as 1 and make the rectangle(ctrl+select)transparent
This way the object stays 32x16

The size of the objects in my floor plan change when I change the page format.
For example, if I generate a square intended to print as 1" on a side, it
initially is the correct size when I open the svg file with inkscape.

I've encountered this issue before myself.

It works for me on the first try (In XPro 4.0.1 CD) using your file, but only if I turn off "Lock Aspect Ratio" before entering the width of 32. Otherwise it seems to be set, but if you click away and then click back, it's got a fractional component again.
This signature would be seven words long if it was six words shorter.

I believe that this has to do with the fact that you are using outlines in your lock (the red) shape. If you ungroup your graphic twice, and select just the red object and convert to editable shapes, then regroup and then re-size, your graphic re-sizes correctly the first time. Or of course you could recreate the image without an outline if you want to keep it vector.

    Pixel,

I am sorry, I didn't do a very good job of explaining myself. I don't believe that this is a bug, it is just the way that Xara handles outlines. Any outline is half in and half out of the shape that you draw. For example, create a square using the rectangle tool. Make the square 40pix x 40pix and give it a 1pix outline. You see that the square is listed as 40x40 in the toolbar. Now change to the selector tool and look at the Height and Width, they both say 41pix. This is because there is a half of a pixel (of the 1pix line) outside of the shape on all sides. When you change the size of the object, the size of the outline is also changed but it is still outside of the shape. This is what was causing you problems. If you make sure that your shape has no outline, I don't think that you will run into this issue anymore. I hope that helps.

sorry but for me your explanation doesn't work
because if object is_not_extruded it's calculated properly
so if something doesn't work as the rest... even if we understand how it works... it should be called bug
especially if i have to do something to bypass the problem

    again
i know how to live with it but...

No, as Eric says, it works exactly right. If your outline doesn't have a size, everything is reported correctly. If it does have a size, it's still reported correctly, but it's not reporting the size that you are expecting it to be reporting.

    As bcire68 mentioned.
It's how using lines effect dimensioning/scaling.
Remove the line and 32pix sizing sticks without changing when you click away.
