Don't necessarily agree John, I have taken both long and short exposure shots of waterfalls and rapids etc. and each picture needs to stand on its own. Long exposures tend to make the water look soft and dreamy. Short exposures make it look wild and explosive. Each one has its own merits, you can't say that one is better than the other. I personally prefer waterfalls and rapids "stopped" at exposures of 1/1000th sec and shorter, but that's my personal preference.
