Hi I was just wondering if you can use parts of clipart as part of your own design?

I'm unable to give you a categorical yes or no on this, but my opinion is that if permission for use was required, the clipart wouldn't be on the Xara CD, or be available to freely download. I dont recall seeing any terms of use forbidding what you want to do. I'm prepared to be proved wrong, though!

I would think that anything in the two "Example" folders would NOT be usable as "clipart". They are complete images created by Xara artists and are available as learning aids.

I think there is a restriction on the xara example drawings which are there as examples only...

Bill beat me to it - sure I have seen this written down somewhere

Clip art, except as mentioned in the two Xara artists examples files, is not copyrighted and can be used freely. You cannot resell the art however. For example, you cannot put together a Greatest Images of the Xara Clip gallery and sell it as a new collection.

But you can use the clip art and modify it to use as logos, or to include in printed and presentation material.

hi thanks for reply, i am designing wedding invitations to sell and would only be using some of the non artists clip art images (parts of). For example if i use part of a flower and change the look of it, is that ok?

AS long as it is not out of the examples directories then you can do it. If you would like to draw your own I have a few flower pictures on my site. You are welcome to use for models. Please don't use the photos themselves in your invitations tho. I would like to be able to sell them myself.

    Hi

Have to say that I've found most xara users very considerate when it comes to sharing drawings etc.

If in doubt ask, they can only say No

    Cheers
