Newb Help: Quickest way to change text properties

.....once you hover and select an existing text it edits it but instead it creates a new text..

You have to make sure that you are right in the original text. You are right if you are slightly off, Xara will try to insert new text. Just make sure you click on the original text to insert the cursor, then relocate the cursor accordingly.

Just to clarify - If you need to change the characters in the extruded text, click the 3d button on the infobar - this will turn off (temporarily) the extrusion and enable you to edit the text content. Once edited you can press the 3d button again to reapply the previous extrusion.

There are also many user created tutorial videos available at TG or at YouTube.

If anything, Xara Xtreme is very easy to use, in fact it is renowned for it.
Sit back an watch the videos and you'll soon become excited at the ease of use and possibilities.

And don't forget you can change the font by using the font gallery. Select the text with the selector tool - no need to use the text tool - then double click a font in the font gallery. You can change size here as well.
