What photo management software do you use?

I use PhotoImpact X3 because I can manage and edit my photos within one program.
Also, it is able to edit the RAW image types I use ( Fuji .RAF , and Kodak .KDC ).
The Kodak .KDC format seems to be a bit of a neglected odd duck, which many photo org. programs can't open. (ie ACDsee pro : from the p-880 camera - yes, from the p-850 camera - no. go figure!).
Also PhotoImpact X3 gives you the option of saving your photos to 48 bit. Not that I often (ever?) use that option, but it is there if you want it.

I just organise them in folders in my documents>my pictures.
As long as there are not hundreds of images per folder it very easy to open the appropriate folder, look at the thumbnails and choose the image you want. I personally don’t see the need for another application to do the same thing unless you have a massive library of images that you need to search for particular examples via tags.

Have you ever tried Picasa? Bloody good considering it's free.

I particularly like that I can hover over any thumbnail and press Ctrl+Alt and get a perfectly rendered screen sized image. That and the import facility.

Irfan view, free and good; Gimp (GNU). ditto for image manipulation which it does just about everything including RAW and I'm surprised no else has mentioned it so far.

I've used Cerious Software's ThumbsPlus for many years.
I use ACDSee for browsing and sorting at times, but ThumbsPlus catalogs, thumbnails my images for fast viewing of even offline discs or drives, and creates my web galleries. I even catalog my commercial discs of clipart and photos if I don't have a printed index for the art. (common when you buy download only versions)

I've been using ACDSee for years now. I like it's extra features like editing tools, image basket, batch rename and batch resize, etc. I also recently started using Picasa when all I want to do is a continuous view of thumbnails for all the images I have. It's more convenient for that.
